Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 October 2026.

1. Who we are and accepting these terms

The Backlink Monitor website and service ("the Service") are operated by Backlink Monitor ("we", "us"). By creating an account, using the free checker, opening a shared report, or otherwise using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use the Service for a company, you confirm you may bind it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

2. The service

The Service checks, on a schedule you can rely on to be about once a day, whether links you ask us to monitor are still present on third-party web pages and how those pages behave (link, anchor text, rel, robots directives, canonical URL, whether the page is alive, parked, for sale or redirected). It tells you about changes through the channels you set up, can keep a history, can produce reports and evidence, and can check whether a page is in Google's index.

The Service reports what our systems observed at the time of a check. Websites can block us, change, load content with scripts, or show different content to different visitors, so a result can be incomplete or wrong. When we cannot tell, we say "can't verify" rather than guess. You remain responsible for decisions you make from the results, including claims against sellers or publishers.

3. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
  • Give us accurate details and keep your e-mail address current. We send account, security, billing and alert messages to it, and some features only work after you confirm it.
  • Keep your password and API key secret. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at [email protected] straight away if you suspect unauthorised use.
  • One person or company per account. Do not create accounts to get around limits, bans or the free plan's allowance.

4. Free plan and promo codes

The Free plan has every feature but a small link limit. We may change the free allowance for new sign-ups; accounts that already exist will be given reasonable notice.

A promo code gives a paid plan without charge until the end date stated for that code (or for the stated number of days after you redeem it). Codes are personal and not transferable, can be used once per account, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn if they are abused or shared in ways we did not intend. When the promotion ends, your account returns to its normal plan; links beyond that plan's limit are paused (not deleted) and resume if you upgrade or free up space.

5. Plans, billing, cancellation and refunds

  • Plans. Paid plans differ by the number of links; the price and limit are on the pricing page. Prices are in euros and may exclude taxes, which we add where required.
  • Billing. Subscriptions are charged monthly or yearly in advance, as you chose at checkout, and renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by our payment processor (currently Stripe); we never see or store your full card number. By subscribing you authorise recurring charges.
  • Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change takes effect for your plan, and you may cancel before it does.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time (in the customer portal under Plan). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for; you keep access until then.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails we may retry it and notify you. If it stays unpaid your account returns to the Free plan and links beyond its limit are paused, not deleted.
  • Refunds. Ask within 14 days of a payment and we refund it in full. Later, unused time is not refunded, except for a charge made by mistake or a significant outage, which we correct if you write to us within 14 days. The details are in the refund policy. Nothing here limits any refund or withdrawal right you have under mandatory law where you live.
  • Changing plans. Upgrades apply immediately. If you move to a smaller plan, links above its limit are paused, not deleted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break any law or infringe anyone's rights, or use the Service to monitor links for activity that is illegal or promotes hatred or violence;
  • use the Service to attack, overload, scan or probe any website, to reach private or internal network addresses, or to collect personal data;
  • try to bypass the Service's security, rate limits, quotas or plan limits, or interfere with its operation or other users;
  • upload malicious code, or add links and addresses designed to make our systems misbehave;
  • resell, sublicense or white-label the Service, except through the shareable report pages it provides, without our written consent;
  • reverse engineer the Service or use it to build a competing monitoring service;
  • use the free checker or the example panel in an automated way beyond the limits shown.

7. Checking other people's websites

To do our job we request pages from third-party websites that you tell us about, once a day per link, politely and with an identifiable user agent (see our crawler page). We do not log in, submit forms or bypass access controls. You confirm that you have a legitimate interest in each page and link you add, for example because you placed or paid for the link. Website owners who do not want to be visited can contact us at [email protected] and we will stop checking their domain. We do not endorse the sites you monitor and have no control over them.

8. Alerts, integrations and shared reports

  • Alerts are sent on a best-effort basis through e-mail, Telegram, Slack, Discord or webhooks you configure. Delivery depends on those third-party services and on your settings (filters, quiet hours), and can be delayed or fail. Do not rely on alerts alone for anything critical.
  • You must only add e-mail addresses, chats and webhooks you are entitled to use. E-mail addresses must be confirmed before they receive alerts.
  • Shared report pages are public to anyone who has the link. You decide what to share and with whom; you are responsible for that content, and you can switch a report off at any time. Do not use them to mislead anyone.
  • Your use of Telegram, Slack, Discord, Google and other third-party services is also governed by their own terms.

9. API

The API is available to accounts that create a key, within the rate limits we apply. Keys are personal: do not share or publish them. We may throttle or suspend API access that looks abusive or puts load on the Service. You may not use data obtained through the API to operate a competing service that resells our results.

10. Support

Support is provided through tickets in your dashboard and by e-mail, on a reasonable-efforts basis with no guaranteed response time. Do not put passwords or card numbers in a ticket.

11. Your data and our rights

You keep ownership of what you put into the Service (your links, notes, projects and settings). You give us a limited licence to store and process it, and to send it to the processors described in the Privacy Policy, solely to provide and secure the Service for you. You can export your links as CSV and delete your account at any time; deletion removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We keep all rights in the Service itself: the software, design, name and branding, and the way results are presented. We may use anonymous, aggregated statistics (for example how many pages block crawlers) to run and improve the Service. If you send us feedback we may use it without obligation to you.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your use puts the Service, other users or third-party websites at risk, if a payment stays unpaid, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as liability, indemnity and governing law) survive termination.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every link or page will be checked successfully, or that results will match what a visitor sees in their browser.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, rankings, traffic, data or business opportunities, arising from the use of or inability to use the Service, including missed, late or inaccurate alerts. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 50 if you have paid nothing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Indemnity

You will compensate us for losses, claims and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your breach of these terms, from links, pages or content you add or share through the Service in breach of someone's rights, or from your unlawful use of the Service.

16. Changes

We may improve, change or remove features. We may update these terms; for material changes we will give notice by e-mail or in the dashboard at least 30 days before they apply to you (shorter if the law requires an urgent change). If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect you accept it; if you do not, you can cancel and delete your account first.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the country where Backlink Monitor is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the mandatory consumer-protection rights and the right to go to court in the country where you live. Before starting a formal dispute, please write to [email protected] so we can try to solve it.

18. General

  • Whole agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy and any plan or promo-code details shown to you are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your account or these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale of the business or restructuring.
  • Events beyond our control (such as outages of hosting, networks, Telegram or other providers, or attacks) do not make us liable for delays or failures they cause.
  • Notices. We may send notices to your account e-mail or show them in the dashboard. You can reach us at the address below.
